Sean hails from Edinburgh, but has lived in South Manchester since the late ’80s. Although most of his experience prior to Albireo was in rock bands and electric setups, he always had a keen interest in folk, having been dragged round numerous Scottish festivals and clubs by his parents in his youth. The switch to acoustic music proved welcome and exciting, although whether he will ever recreate the giddy heights of third place in the 1984 Scottish final of the TSB Rock School competition is debatable.

He recently rekindled his earlier love of heavy metal with the Prögford project, putting Playford tunes in a prog-metal setting. His hope is that this will both entertain and upset the community in equal measure.

By day, Sean works as a Reader at the University of Manchester.
